David Barrett is predominantly a painter of the human figure, although he also has painted still lives. His method is meticulous, involving a great deal of measuring and correction to create images that do not reference a photographic reality appearing more sculptural, reflecting the care and attention in putting his work together. Each work generally takes between 6 and 8 months to complete.
David Barrett says “I paint portraits and occasionally I work from a naked person”.
David has recently had a piece of work bought up by the Crawford Gallery, in Cork for the National Permanent Collection.
